You Are What You Eat
More people than ever before are taking an interest in good, wholesome food. Food that is as far away as possible from intensive, battery farmed, processed food. Our pigs are free to wander large areas that they treat as their own territory. It is curious to note that whenever we remove the small fences to re-arrange the farm layout; the pigs like to stay in their own areas. We only need fences at all to prevent a curious pig from wandering into danger outside the farm boundaries; or to give pigs a bit of peace when they have young.
Our farm is situated on the edge of beautiful moorland with breathtaking views over the town of Bury in Lancashire and surrounding valleys. The air is clear and fresh all year round from the crisp winter mornings to the warm evenings of summer. The small track road leading to Pike Farm winds a long way before meeting a major road.
All the goodness of this land goes into our pork, if you want good, wholesome food; this is it!
A Note to Animal Lovers
We believe we are giving our animals the best life possible. We sell some pork to support the farm and to look after our animals, we keep the rest and breed them. All our pigs are rare breeds, we need to breed lots more so they can survive. (more here...) Many of our pigs will stay with us for the duration of their natural lives, others will leave to breed at other farms like ours.
When you buy meat from certain suppliers (we obviously can't name for legal reasons) you are perpetuating cruel battery farming and often the supply of sub-standard unhealthy meat products. When you buy meat from us you are supporting a hard working, environmentally friendly farm and helping to re-introduce rare breeds of pig into our countryside.
If you don't like to eat meat at all, maybe you will enjoy the information we provide and our photographs of happy animals in a glorious landscape. We will happily accept donations from people who don't wish to buy our products. We guarantee to use any income from such donations to support our breeding program for rare breeds of pig.
